At Artaze Hair Salon in New Milton, we recently completed a full flooring refurbishment across the main salon area, kitchen, hallway, and cloakroom. The existing floor tiles had become cracked and worn over time, detracting from the overall appearance of the salon and no longer reflecting the professional, modern environment the business wanted to present to its clients. The goal was to give the space a fresh new lease of life with a durable, stylish, and practical flooring solution suitable for a busy commercial setting.

Following an initial site visit, it was clear that while the old tiled floor was structurally stable in most areas, visible cracks and general wear were affecting its aesthetics. Rather than removing the tiles entirely, which would have increased disruption and downtime, we recommended a specialist preparation and overlay solution that would provide a smooth, long-lasting base for new commercial luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring.

To begin the process, we thoroughly cleaned and degreased the existing tiled surface to remove any product residue, dirt, and contaminants typically found in a working salon environment. Proper cleaning is essential in hair salons, where styling products, moisture, and regular foot traffic can affect surface adhesion. Once the floor was fully cleaned, we carefully repaired the cracked tiles to stabilise the surface and prevent movement beneath the new flooring system.

After repairs were completed, we applied P141 bonding primer to promote strong adhesion between the existing tiled surface and the new smoothing compound. The entire area was then latexed to create a level, seamless base, effectively sealing the old tiles and preparing the floor for installation. This step ensured a smooth, stable surface capable of supporting commercial-grade LVT in high-traffic areas.

With the subfloor fully prepared, we installed new commercial luxury vinyl tiles throughout the salon, kitchen, hallway, and cloakroom. The chosen LVT provides excellent durability, easy maintenance, and a modern, stylish finish that complements the salon’s interior. Designed for heavy daily use, commercial LVT is ideal for hair salons where constant footfall, wheeled chairs, and moisture are part of everyday operations.

Once installation was complete, we carried out a full clean of the newly fitted floors to ensure the salon was ready to reopen immediately. The transformation was significant, delivering a fresh, contemporary look across all areas while providing a hard-wearing and low-maintenance flooring solution.
