We recently completed a luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring installation for a homeowner in Barton on Sea, replacing an ageing floor with a stylish tile-effect LVT that combines the appearance of ceramic tiles with the warmth, comfort, and practicality of modern luxury vinyl flooring. During our initial inspection, it was clear that the existing LVT flooring had reached the end of its lifespan. Before a new floor could be installed, the subfloor required extensive preparation to remove old adhesives and contaminants that could affect the performance and longevity of the new flooring. As with all LVT installations, proper preparation was essential to achieve a flawless finish and ensure the new floor remained stable over time.

The project began with the careful removal and disposal of the existing LVT flooring. Once the floor covering had been lifted, we mechanically ground back the subfloor to remove all traces of old adhesive and surface contamination, creating a clean and stable base for the next stages of the installation. Thorough preparation at this stage is vital, as any remaining contaminants can prevent new flooring systems from bonding correctly and may lead to future issues.

To provide additional protection, we installed an F78 waterproof membrane across the entire floor area. This moisture control system helps protect the new installation from residual moisture within the subfloor while creating a reliable foundation for the flooring build-up. Once the membrane had cured, a latex smoothing compound was applied to produce a perfectly level and seamless surface ready for the new floor covering.

With the subfloor fully prepared, we supplied and installed a premium tile-effect luxury vinyl tile flooring. To enhance the realism of the finished floor, pale grouting strips were fitted between each tile, recreating the appearance of traditional ceramic tiles while retaining all the practical benefits of LVT. The finished floor delivers the timeless look of stone or porcelain tiles but offers a warmer feel underfoot, reduced maintenance, improved comfort, and greater resilience to everyday wear.

The completed installation has transformed the room, giving the property a fresh, contemporary appearance while providing a durable flooring solution designed to last.
