At All Aspect Flooring, we recently completed a specialist flooring installation for a new youth café designed to accommodate high daily foot traffic and the demands of a busy social space. The client required a heavy-duty commercial flooring solution that would be durable, safe, and easy to maintain. As the café is located on the first floor with a timber sub-structure, soundproofing was also a key consideration to prevent noise transfer to the premises below.

During the initial consultation, the client explained that durability was essential due to the expected volume of young people using the space each day. Following this inspection, we specified a comprehensive flooring system that addressed both durability and sound reduction while meeting relevant safety and acoustic standards. The timber subfloor was first overlaid with 6mm SP101 flooring-grade plywood to create a stable and level base. This was then primed to promote strong adhesion and improve the long-term performance of the flooring system. A feather finish compound was applied across the entire floor area to smooth joints and imperfections, ensuring a seamless surface ready for the final installation.

To reduce impact noise and improve acoustic performance, an acoustic soundproofing underlay was installed across the prepared base. This step was essential in minimising sound transfer between floors and creating a quieter, more comfortable environment throughout the building. The final stage involved installing commercial-grade safety vinyl flooring specifically designed for heavy-traffic environments. This flooring offers excellent slip resistance, durability, and minimal maintenance requirements, making it ideal for a busy youth café.

The completed flooring system successfully met all of the client’s objectives. The café now benefits from a robust, low-maintenance commercial floor capable of withstanding daily use without deterioration, along with enhanced acoustic performance that helps absorb and reduce noise for neighbouring spaces. The finished floor also provides a clean, professional appearance that contributes to the modern and welcoming atmosphere of the café.
